Pirate Nation Expands to Abstract: Onchain Arcade at Full Sail

@PirateNation has become one of the most recognizable names in onchain gaming. Built by @ProofOfPlay, the studio is pushing the boundaries of what fully onchain experiences can look like. While the core Pirate Nation game and NFTs live on @arbitrum, its newest feature, the Pirate Nation Arcade, has been launched directly on @AbstractChain.

This marks a strategic expansion into the modular ecosystem, where speed and scalability make real-time gaming possible.

Proof of Play OS: The Engine Behind the Game

At the heart of Pirate Nation is Proof of Play Onchain Services (Proof of Play OS), a set of tools designed to power performance-heavy onchain games. From identity systems to real-time game logic, Proof of Play OS enables developers to ship immersive titles that stay true to blockchain's principles of transparency and composability.

Most services are modular teams can pick and choose what they need making it easier for new games to plug into the same infrastructure.

The Pirate Nation Arcade on Abstract

The new Arcade experience is where Pirate Nation connects directly with the Abstract ecosystem. Players simply connect their Abstract wallet, load up credits, and dive into fast-paced pirate battles. Every run consumes credits, and the challenge is to score as high as possible to climb the leaderboards.

Leaderboard Mechanics

There are two leaderboard categories:

  • Best Run: based purely on raw score (without multipliers).
  • Total Runs: which factors in multipliers from extra credits spent.

This dual model introduces both skill-based competition and a strategic element, where players can choose to boost their score through higher stakes.

Community Meta Update: Commander Blackink vs. Rektzilla

Beyond the Arcade, the Pirate Nation meta is constantly evolving. A recent update introduced Commander Blackink as a standout captain, with his signature card Scalding Ink Spray becoming one of the strongest tools in the game thanks to its blind effect. Players are already reporting that Blackink performs especially well against the new Rektzilla final boss.

Deck-building has also shifted. Community guides now recommend prioritizing the "Remember That" card, which allows Ink Spray to be cycled multiple times per round, creating devastating combos. Other essential picks include Arterial Strike to trigger bleed, the rare Master Key for wave 26, and Sneaky, which can counter some of Rektzilla's direct attacks.

The Ultimate Challenge: Wave 26

The toughest challenge remains Wave 26, where Rektzilla unleashes a predictable but punishing attack cycle: Shellshock Pulse (area damage), Stop-Loss Snap (paralyze + double attack), and Margin Call (massive buffed strike). Countering these with Blind, Evade, or Stun cards is now the key to surviving and why Blackink's Ink Spray is so dominant.

On top of this, Proof of Play introduced a new in-game leaderboard with $ETH rewards for the top 100 players, adding extra incentives for those climbing the ranks. While the rewards are modest, they reinforce Pirate Nation's hybrid identity as both a fun strategy game and a competitive onchain experience tied to Abstract.

Onchain Fairness, Real Stakes

Because the Arcade is deployed on Abstract, every run and score is verifiable onchain. That means no hidden algorithms or opaque leaderboards every victory is transparent, and every loss is final. If runs end unexpectedly due to local issues such as internet dropouts, credits aren't reimbursed, but in cases of service interruptions or Abstract outages, Proof of Play commits to reimburse affected users.

A Pirate World Beyond the Arcade

While the Arcade is Abstract-native, the broader Pirate Nation experience remains anchored on Arbitrum, where the official Pirate Nation NFT collection lives. This dual-chain model positions @PirateNation uniquely: combining the composability of Arbitrum's DeFi and NFT ecosystem with Abstract's high-performance layer for gameplay.

Why Abstract Matters Here

Launching the Arcade on Abstract is more than a technical choice it's a signal for where onchain gaming is heading. Games demand speed, low costs, and composability, and Abstract provides exactly that. Pirate Nation is showing that Web3 gaming doesn't have to compromise between verifiability and playability. By splitting its universe across Arbitrum and Abstract, Proof of Play is tapping into the best of both worlds.

Setting Sail into the Onchain Future

Pirate Nation is no longer just a Web3 experiment, it's becoming a flagship case study for how onchain gaming can scale across multiple chains. With Proof of Play OS powering the backend, an NFT economy thriving on Arbitrum, and the Arcade running natively on Abstract, the project represents a multi-chain future where players and builders alike have more flexibility than ever.

For players, the message is simple: connect your Abstract wallet, grab some credits, and prove yourself as the ultimate pirate captain. For the industry, Pirate Nation is a reminder that the next wave of Web3 games will be both fully onchain and fully playable.
