Romy: The Collection That Wants to Become Abstract's First Dino Icon

Romy is a new dinosaur-themed PFP collection on Abstract Chain, built solo by a French graphic designer aiming to fill the missing dino gap in the ecosystem.

Romy: The Collection That Wants to Become Abstract's First Dino Icon

Abstract has its bears. Its cats. Its penguins. But until now, it didn't have a dino. A new collection has launched on @AbstractChain. Its name is @RomyNFTs, and its founder describes it as the first dinosaur-themed PFP on the network.

What's the core idea?

The starting point was simple: the founder, a fan of collections like @bearish_af, @FugzOfficial, @meow_co0, @ppuffins on Abstract, @pudgypenguins, and Sappy Seals, noticed that no dinosaur collection existed on the chain yet. Romy was built to fill that gap, using the same visual codes and community-driven approach as those references.

Why NFTs specifically?

The founder describes two things that drive him in NFT projects: the generation and minting process, and watching a community connect with the characters. He mentions enjoying the moment when people recognize personalities in the NFTs, something he sees as a sign that the art and culture landed correctly. Building an IRL brand held no appeal by comparison.

A Solo Project

Romy was built entirely by one person. The founder is a professional graphic designer in France, which he describes as giving him the right reflexes for this kind of work. He has been following Web3 for a few years but had never launched his own project before Romy. He kept it separate from his other professional activities by choice.

He notes that some of the strongest projects currently on Abstract were also built solo, citing Meow as an example. That said, he acknowledges he would consider bringing in help if the project grows significantly.

The Art

The artist is the founder himself. No external collaboration. Every piece is handcrafted, which he views as essential to the project's identity.

Why Abstract Chain?

The founder is direct on this point: he considers Abstract the best chain for a project like Romy, one built around fun rather than financial mechanics. He highlights the accessibility of the Abstract team, the community's tone (described as non-pretentious and approachable), and the overall quality of what's already being built on the network. He believes the strongest projects in the space right now are on Abstract.

No Roadmap

Romy has no formal roadmap. No token airdrop, no upcoming game, no long-term promises. The founder frames this as a deliberate choice rooted in his own experience as a collector, having been disappointed too many times by projects that announced things they never delivered.

Building as they go doesn't mean nothing is happening, he adds. Community members can pitch ideas directly in the Discord, and collaborations are being explored as opportunities come up. Nothing has been announced yet on that front, including on-chain mechanics.

Community Building

No formal strategy, by the founder's own admission. His approach is based on transparency, consistency, availability, answering questions, clearing doubts, being present. Less than 15 days after launch, the Discord had reached 350 members, a figure he points to as an early sign of engagement.

Utility

The project is described as building step by step. The current focus is on meeting other builders on Abstract and identifying collaboration opportunities as they arise. The community has a say in the direction, including the ability to submit ideas in the Discord. No specific utility features have been announced.

Looking Ahead

Asked about the next six months or a year, the founder keeps expectations measured, he mentions the possibility of merch or plushies down the line, but nothing confirmed. The stated end goal is a strong community, multiple collaborations, partnerships with games, and positioning Romy as a recognized name within the Abstract ecosystem.
